Major Russian Attacks Eliminate Power Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in eastern districts were left without electricity and dealt with disruption to drinking water, according to local authorities.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has intensified strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.

"What's needed is not window dressing but strong steps - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in supplying protection systems and applying penalties," mentioned in a public message.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were working to repair systems.

A wave of strikes hit energy infrastructure and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by local officials.

Regional authorities said the urban area came under significant strikes throughout the evening. A young boy was killed and multiple civilians were hurt.

The attacks succeed periods of bombing campaigns in the region, parts of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to detect.

Government officials told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already affecting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and officials were anticipating more assaults.
