Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, demons, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear out of place, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can look forward to learning which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
